2020 / 2021 Season Information

We are so excited to begin the 2020/2021 soccer season! First off, we’d like to introduce our new Head Coach, Josh Nichols:

I am a proud husband to my wife Allison for 17 years, and a father of 3 amazing children Seth (15), Sydney (13), Travis (8). I grew up in Pittsburgh for 37 years, lived in Salt Lake City, UT, and Maui, HI before moving to Fort Collins, CO almost 4 years ago. We absolutely love it here, specifically the community and the outdoors, and are excited to call Fort Collins our home for a long time. We feel blessed to have been able to find Heritage Christian Academy and City Park Church and be part of life with the staff and people of this amazing community. I have found myself to be drawn in serving for, and with this community in multiple capacities, including at City Park Church as a deacon and being part of the City Park lunch team, volunteering and coaching at Heritage Christian Academy, volunteering at Dunn Elementary (PSD), Serve 6.8, and Fort Collins Rescue Mission, as well as being involved in coaching soccer through a variety of clubs (CO Rapids Soccer Club). I look forward to the opportunity to be part of HCA High School Boys Soccer and continue to serve Fort Collins and to serve the Lord.

Assisting Coach Nichols will be Joe Taylor. Joe has coached Rec Soccer (five years) and co-coached HCA Middle School Soccer with Coach Nichols. He currently works for AceInfo Solutions, is a Worship Leader at DaySpring Christian Church, and is the Worship Instructor at Heritage. He and Kara (both Colorado natives) have been married twenty one years and are the parents of Jayden (15) and Kylie (13).

See our About page for more information about the soccer program!

Uniform Needs

  • Home and Away Jerseys and shorts are provided by the school. Please take good care of these uniforms!
  • The boys will each need at least one pair of white and one pair of green soccer socks (for games).
  • If the boys wish to wear a base layer under their jerseys (for colder games), the shirt must either match the jersey or be black.

Communication

We are using Team Snap as our main platform of communication. All players have been invited and are responsible for updating their parents and/or sharing with them how to become a part of and use this app.

Needs

All needs will be in a sign-up genius to be posted/emailed soon!

Away game snack bags (ex. drink, sandwich, snack bar, fruit, fruit snack, water, etc. – keep health & energy in mind) – we will send out a sign-up genius when the schedule is “finalized.” These will need to be at the school on away game days so they can fuel up on the way to the game. PLEASE LABEL FOR SOCCER!!! UPDATE: We will be doing pre and post-game snacks for ALL games and for BOTH teams! We want to show all of our opponents the love of Christ. It can be simple, just a drink and a snack. More info will be on the sign-up.

Away games – we will plan on grabbing dinner after a couple away games, but not all of them.

Transportation – you and your student are responsible for getting him to practice and home games. We do take the van and utilize carpools to away games. The van will bring the boys back to the school after away games. We can do carpools after school to get boys to practice, but they will need permission to either ride with a senior player, Josh, or Kara. You will be responsible for picking them up at Landings after practice.

One parent to make locker signs for each player that identifies them as a soccer player and encourages them throughout the season.

One family to be in charge of setting up school flag and sponsorship banner at home games.

One or two families to hand out programs at home games.

We are considering doing concessions at home games as a further way to raise money. We’d need families to take turns selling.

If you take photos throughout the season, please share them (we will be looking into the best way to do this).

Senior Day

Typically, the underclassman do a gift bag for each senior (favorite snacks, drinks, small gift cards, etc. and a nice card)

Simple potluck after the game – Saturday, April 17th

End of Season Events

Chili dinner/potluck – we will send out a separate sign-up for this event. We will not have a date until we see how playoffs go. This is also the lettering/awards ceremony and is a very special evening! HS Soccer Boys vs. HS Volleyball Girls in a volleyball AND soccer game!
